An Evening at the White House With Some Great Women
Albany, Oregon’s “White House” that is!!

The Pfeiffer Cottage Inn
Debbie Lusk, owner of a lovely B&B in Albany called The Pfeiffer Cottage Inn, and a representative for Travel Oregon, invited me to speak at her Chick Lit Book Club on Thursday, Feb.2. It was held in a beautiful historic home, The Cathey House which is dubbed “The White House” because it does, indeed, look like THE White House. About eleven woman attended and having never been part of a book club before I was in for a real treat.
First of all, the women were a diverse group; all of them delightfully charming, witty, talented, and very civid-minded. My hat’s off to them for their dedication to the community.
Secondly, it was a potlock and the food was DE-LICIOUS: Soup, salads, breads, appetizers, desserts — oh, the desserts!
Thirdly, the format was a complete surprise. Rather than all of them reading the same book and then gathering together to discuss it per a pre-designated worksheet, these women each shared whatever they had been reading — or involved in — for the last month. It could be about recent books they’d read, or music, or a movie that impacted them, or a class they were taking at school, or a quilting project they’d been working on …
Needless to say, I was intrigued and left the meeting several hours later feeling as though my life had been enriched on several different levels. These ladies were FUN!!
A big MILLE GRAZIE to Karen for hosting the club (you were a perfect host) and to Debbie Lusk for inviting me and writing such a wonderful review of Bianca’s Vineyard on her blog Sweet Bliss which is syndicated in Travel Oregon and the Oregon Bed and Breakfast Guild. I can’t stress enough how much writers appreciate, and depend on, good reviews from their readers. So, if any of you reading this have the time to write a review on Amazon, it would be greatly appreciated!!
NOTE: Besides bringing Bianca’s Vineyard to West Coast wineries and Italian-American Festivals, I am also available to speak at any Book Club interested in having me. Shoot me an e-mail, and if you’re too far away, we can arrange a face-to-face on Skype. I love meeting my readers and hearing from them.
