Update Book Tour; Domenico Memories
March — YEAH!I do believe I hear a collective sigh signalling the approach of spring! That, and the rattle of garden tools getting dusted off, green clothing being dug out of closets in anticipation of St. Patrick’s Day, clacking keyboards searching for Spring Break deals and children begging for Easter to hurry up and get here.
Before you head out for the beach, or to the warm comfort of your bed after a hard day of spring cleaning, grab a copy of Domenico’s Table if you haven’t read it yet, and let it transport you to another world. Whimsical, full of suspense, mysterious and entertaining, readers have written to me that they hated to end the book, they became so attached to the characters and story. Let me know, after reading it, how it affected you, would you?
Many of you replied to my last blog about a Bianca/Domenico Book Tour of Tuscany. Some were dreamily interested; others were seriously interested. I’ve contacted Rem at Italy4Real Tours and he is in the process of developing a possible itinerary in the event enough people are, indeed, serious about the tour. At this point, if it happens, it looks like it would be a late September or early October tour, although there are still other dates open. I will keep you updated as we progress and will contact those of you who e-mailed me directly about your desire to go.
Domenico Sacchelli, the “star” of Domenico’s Table, is excited about a possible tour and has graciously offered to host a dinner at his fattoria for the group that goes. In the book, his beautiful Tuscan property is described in detail and, yes, his pizzas are to die for 🙂
When I speak at Book Clubs and other events, I’m often asked about the characters in my books. A detail about Domenico: My husband and I nicknamed him “John Wayne” because of his tall, cowboy like stature and easy-going personality. He’s a fatherly, eye-twinkling, gregarious Italian. (This photo was taken at his stone table outside his fattoria in 2011 while doing research for the book. Can you picture Poppy or Dolphus leaning out the upper window in the background?)
Meanwhile, Book Three is in the works. More on that later 🙂 Until then, may this spring breath new life into your souls and renew your dreams. Arreverderci!
